The Polish driver of the RPM team scored points in two races in Le Castellet. Jan Przyrowski has had a solid weekend of racing during the sixth round of the Formula Regional European Championship (FREC). The protégé of the ORLEN Motorsport Academy improved by as many as 7 places in one competition compared to his starting position.

France, a time of steady progress

This time, drivers and teams had less track time to prepare for qualifying and races. Friday saw two practice sessions, during which the 17-year-old from Rossoszyca held a long top-10 finish. However, things didn’t go according to plan during the final outings, resulting in 17th and 20th place finishes. The pace improved in qualifying, but his rivals also picked up the pace.

Finally, he finished 9th in Group A and started 17th on the grid. In the first race, Jan Przyrowski did his best and moved up to 13th. However, some rivals made mistakes and broke the rules, and by the evening, when the results of the first race were updated, the Pole was already eleventh. Shortly after, another incident was investigated and consequences were drawn, and the RPM driver moved up to 10th. Saturday ended with a seven-place advance and one point.

Sunday brought improved performance

Jan Przyrowski, along with his engineers and mechanics, explored ways to go much faster. In the second qualifying session, the change proved successful, and the 17-year-old often achieved record-breaking second sector finishes, and after the first runs, everyone was close together. Ultimately, after the final tests, Przyrowski finished 5th in his group. This result translated into 9th on the grid.

During the second race, the ORLEN Motorsport Academy protégé found himself in a large group of drivers battling for 7th place. The gap between the drivers was very small, and everyone was looking for their chance. Ultimately, the pace was very close, making it difficult to advance. The Pole finished 9th, earning two valuable points for himself and the RPM team.

Last weekend, Przyrowski was once again significantly faster than his RPM teammates. This resulted in him finishing a dozen or so positions higher.

“The weekend didn’t start perfectly for us, and we had to look for different solutions. After the first qualifying session, our situation became more complicated, but we were determined to keep trying. In the race, I gained four positions and tried to keep pushing. The gap wasn’t huge, but it turned out that our rivals were making mistakes and receiving penalties. I later learned that we had a point for 10th place. In the second qualifying session, I pushed as hard as I could, which resulted in 5th place in the group and a P9 start. I approached the second race calmly, knowing that we would have some fight ahead of us, and that’s exactly what happened,” said Jan Przyrowski after the round at Paul Ricard.

“In the end, we took home three points from France. It was a bit better than in Hungary, but I’m still aiming much higher. Now we have a longer break, and I hope we’ll come back stronger and fight for the podium. Next Round: Imola

The FREC series is taking a break from racing for approximately 1.5 months. The return is scheduled for 4-6th September, with the seventh round at the Autodromo di Imola Enzo e Dino Ferrari track. Two test sessions will likely take place the day before the race weekend, as the Tatuus T-326 has not yet tested at this Italian track.

Jan Przyrowski’s goal is to continue progress that will help him and the RPM team achieve a successful finish to the 2026 season. There are still many points up for grabs, and the fight for a top-ten finish in the general classification is within the 17-year-old’s grasp.
