The Polish driver advanced in the “general classification”, but despite this he has a difficult weekend behind him in Le Castellet. Jan Przyrowski was the fastest in almost every session, starting with Thursday’s tests, and he also won the qualifications twice. The protégé of the Academy Motorsport ORLEN showed that he is in great shape, but technical problems made themselves felt in the races, making it difficult to fight for victories.
A fierce fight for performance, the best pace and the podium
The Griffin Core by Campos driver did everything to make the round at the French Paul Ricard track the best possible. Great determination, fighting for every fraction of a second and many hours spent with engineers and mechanics after each session. However, motorsport showed its most brutal side. Great performance and pace were difficult to fully use after losses caused by problems at the start, partial loss of power and a failure.
The first qualifications brought pole position with an advantage of 0.247 s. Shortly afterwards, after the first of three races, when the start from pole position did not go the way the Pole had planned, he fought to make up for the losses. It seemed that he would have to fight with Thomas Strauven and Ean Eyckmans ahead of him. After the neutralisation was completed, Nathan Tye put pressure on him and it was him that the 16-year-old from Rossoszyca lost a lot of time behind. In the end, they managed to regain 3rd place, but this did not satisfy Jan’s ambitions in any way. The protégé of the Academy Motorsport ORLEN went to the garage immediately after leaving the podium, analysed and fought for the best Sunday possible.
A great start to the next day and… the return of problems
The start of the next day brought the third pole position in a row in this season of the Spanish Formula 4. The mood before the second race was very good and it seemed that Sunday would satisfy Jan Przyrowski’s ambitions and allow him to chase the championship leader. Unfortunately, there was another problem at the start. This time, however, it was difficult for the Polish driver to fight to make up for the losses, because he lacked performance on the straights. Because of this, he also dropped to 4th place, and shortly afterwards to 7th place. In reality, the fight was to stay in the points zone.
After thorough analyses, the decision was made to replace the components that were supposed to be better. Everyone worked hard to make it to the final race. Unfortunately, an almost analogous situation occurred, but then the car still had the pace and Jan Przyrowski returned to the fight for the podium. When he was already third, a lap later, problems appeared that prevented further competition and forced the Pole to withdraw from the race. This was definitely not how the weekend was supposed to end – motorsport showed its brutal face. Titanic work, great form, top pace, great qualifications, but when a technical problem makes itself known, there is little the driver can do in this situation.
Jan Przyrowski advanced in the general standings
Despite the fact that the weekend in France did not go as Jan Przyrowski had hoped, he managed to win 23 points. Of these, 15 for 3rd place in the first race and 4 for 7th in the second competition, as well as a total of 4 for two wins in qualifying sessions. Last weekend was not successful for many other competitors either, and all in all, the protégé of the Academy Motorsport ORLEN took more “points” than his rival before the weekend, Rene Lammers. This means that the currently 16-year-old Pole, with 133 points to his name, is only ahead of Thomas Strauven.
Impressions after the fourth round
– A difficult weekend at the Paul Ricard track. I had great pace in qualifying and in the races, but unfortunately technical problems excluded me from the competition for victories throughout the weekend. I am very dissatisfied with the result of the whole weekend, but I am still happy with what I did this week. The next round of the Spanish Formula 4 will take place in Jerez, 19th-21st September. Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me. Big thanks to the Academy Motorsport ORLEN, Geothermal Solutions and Repiński Transport for making it possible to continue competing – said Jan Przyrowski after the fourth round of the Spanish Formula 4 in Le Castellet.
The F4 Spanish Championship will not return until September
The fifth round of the season is scheduled for the Jerez track only on 19th-21st September. This means a long break for Jan Przyrowski. During this break, the driver from Rossoszyca will continue his work. After the break, the season will enter its decisive phase, and there will be as many as 225 points to be won. The goal is to return to the fight for victories and the championship title in the Spanish Formula 4.
