Last weekend, 19th-21st September, the Rossoszyca-based driver put in a strong performance during the fifth round of the F4 Spanish Championship. Jan Przyrowski won qualifying twice and set the fastest lap time in the third race. The protégé of the ORLEN Motorsport Academy and Prosperity Investment Management suffered considerable bad luck at the start of three races, resulting in him not finishing one race and finishing sixth in two others, despite finishing second in one of them.

Great pace and bad luck in Spain

From the very beginning of the weekend, Jan Przyrowski displayed excellent pace. In Friday’s two test sessions, he finished second, narrowly behind the leader – 0.022 and 0.112 seconds. This was despite driving in a very crowded environment, so there were many indications that Saturday would be better. And so it was – the Griffin Core by Campos driver started with the best result in morning practice, with a comfortable lead of 0.2 seconds. Qualifying was ahead of him, where he was unrivaled, completing the pole-securing lap with a nearly identical lead. Furthermore, the second-fastest qualifying time secured pole position for both races. This result offered hope for a continued positive weekend.

Unfortunately, the first race didn’t start as Jan himself had hoped. The start problems the Pole had already faced in France returned. However, this time, the 17-year-old Griffin Core by Campos driver’s car couldn’t get off the grid. Surrounding drivers tried to avoid Jan Przyrowski, but unfortunately, Miguel Costa was unsuccessful. Fortunately, both drivers emerged from their cars, damaged by the incident, unharmed. Their cars were repaired for Sunday.

Seventh Pole Position in a Row

Jan Przyrowski once again started the third day of competition very well. He was fastest in qualifying for the seventh consecutive time. The ORLEN Motorsport Academy and Prosperity Investment Management driver had two races ahead of him. The Rossoszyca driver entered them with a fighting spirit, aiming to secure as many points as possible for the overall standings. The second race, however, began with a difficult start, but Jan managed to get going. After dropping to 12th place, he faced a significant challenge. Through it all, the Pole did everything he could to get back to the front of the pack. He succeeded, finishing 6th.

The plan for the final race was to get a better start and fight for the best possible result. This time, the car allowed the 17-year-old to get off to a much better start, limiting his deficit to one place. Jan Przyrowski ran in second place and kept the pressure on leader Thomas Strauven throughout the race. All the fans were left wondering who would win this duel until the very end. Along the way, he managed to set the fastest race time, which earned him an additional point. On the final lap, a final attack was attempted, and our compatriot had a good chance of success. His rival caused a dangerous situation, pushing the Rossosz driver into a gravel pit. Thanks to his skill, he maintained his composure and secured second place.

Unfortunately, a few hours after the race, the Polish driver received a controversial time penalty for minor contact with his rival early in the race. A 5-second addition to the final race time meant a drop to 6th place. It was a difficult weekend for Jan Przyrowski, with results that didn’t reflect his true potential. Ultimately, he managed to earn 19 points (14 from two races, 4 from two pole positions, and 1 for the fastest lap).

Jan Przyrowski in the Top 4 of the general standings

Although the weekend in Jerez, Spain, didn’t go Jan’s way, it allowed him to remain in the fight for the top spots in the general classification. Przyrowski currently has 146 points and is fourth in the F4 Spanish Championship standings. Ahead of him are Ean Eyckmans, Rene Lammers, and Thomas Strauven. One trouble-free weekend could significantly change the situation and help him return to second place in the overall standings.

Impressions after the fifth round

“Overall, the round didn’t go my way. Many factors contributed to the poor starts, but we can also look for positives. Once again, I managed to take two pole positions, making it my seventh in a row, and I also set the fastest race time, so the pace was very good,” said Jan Przyrowski after the fourth round of the F4 Spanish Championship in Jerez.

“I obviously have goals before Valencia. Of course, I’d like to take pole position again, because it’s even more important than here in Jerez. Of course, I’d like everything to go my way so I can win more races this season.” I would like to take this opportunity to thank the entire ORLEN company, the ORLEN Motorsport Academy, Geothermal Solutions, Repiński Transport, my new career partner, Prosperity Investment Management, the fans, and everyone who supports me for their support,” added the 17-year-old from Rossoszyca.

F4 Spanish Championship will return in October

Jan Przyrowski is facing the sixth round of the Spanish Formula 4 at the RIcardo Tormo circuit in Valencia. The venue, which once hosted regular F1 pre-season testing, will host the penultimate race weekend of the season. The competition is scheduled for October 17-19. The Polish driver’s current goal is to fight to return to second place in the overall standings and score as many points as possible.
